Maleic Resin also called Rosin Modified Maleic Resin, is a type of light yellow and transparent flake solid that is made of refined gum rosin and maleic anhydride, and is esterified by pentaerythritol. Soluble in coal tar, ester, plant oil, turpentine, insoluble in alcohol. It has features of light color, color retention, has well solubility with nitrocotton, can improve the hardness and gloss of paint surface, not only that, maleic resin has excellent performance at water-resistance. For fast-dry enamel paint manufacturing, it can save consumption of tung oil.

Applications Of Phenolic Resin & Ester Of Rosin

Phenolic Resin also named Rosin Modified Phenolic Resin, it comes with features of high softening point and fast drying. The Difference Between Gum Rosin, Glycerol Ester Of Rosin & Pentaerythritol Ester Of Rosin

Gum rosin is made from natural rosin that collected from pine tree, and come through refining process, it can not only be direct used in varous industries, but also can be the basic material for other further processed pine rosin products.

Ester of rosin has gum rosin as basic material and processed with polyol ester, polyol ester usually include glycerol ester and pentaerythritol ester. Compare with gum rosin, ester of rosin has higher softening point (90-110°C) and acid number between 10-20, so it can has more application. Glycerol ester of rosin and pentaerythritol ester of rosin can be applied to coating and ink, but pentaerythritol has better fast-dry, hardness & glossiness, not only that, it has better water-resistance, alkali-resistance and faster solvent release. If you want to enhance the color stability and other performances of ester of rosin, you can use polymerized rosin or hydrogenated rosin to instead of gum rosin, the softening point of ester of polymerized rosin is higher than ester of rosin, but hydrogenated rosin is lower.

In addition to coating and ink, ester of rosin also can be used widely used in hot-melt adhesive, pressure-sensitive adhesive, rubber, tackifier and binder of road marking paint and so on.

Terpene resin, also named polyterpene resin or pinene resin. It is a type of polymer which primarily consist of α pinene or β pinene of turpentine that are catalyzed by Falk's catalytic, and polymerized by positive ion. Terpene resin has many execllent features such as transparency, light color, non-toxic, resistence to dilute acid & alkali, insulativity, antioxidation and strong bonding. In the application of various types of adhesive products, compare with gum rosin and modified rosin, it has much more tackfiness, in addition to being used as tackifier, it also can be used as ameliorant for hot-melt material.
