Fuctions Of Gum Rosin


1. Soap Manufacturing
    Resin soap is made from gum rosin that being boiled with soda or caustic soda, it featured with detergency, soluble well in water, can easily dissolve grease, gum rosin can prevent the soap from cracking and deterioration.

2. Paper Making
    Gum rosin can be used as sizing material for paper making, put it in the pulp and add some alums, the rosin permeate in the fiber when being heated, it can be able to resist water and prevent ink ink penetration, and improve the intensity and evenness of paper.

3. Coating
    Gum rosin is soluble well in various types of solvents, can easily build a layer of film with gloss, it's the basic material of coating and paint, it comes with gloss and fast-dry, can prevent the coating layer from falling off. 

4. Printing Ink
    Gum rosin can be the chromatophore for printing ink, it can improve the adhesion between ink and paper.

5. Adhesive Products
    It's the basic material of adhesive products, such as hot-melt adhesive, pressure sensitive adhesive and rubber tackifier etc.
 
6. Rubber Industry
    Can be used as the softener of rubber, it can effectively improve the elasticity of rubber products.

The Difference Between Gum Rosin And Ester Of Rosin

Gum rosin is made from natural rosin that collected from pine tree, and come through refining process, it can not only be direct used in various industries,  but also can be the basic material for other further processed pine rosin products.
Ester of rosin has gum rosin as basic material and processed with polyol ester, polyol ester usually include glycerol ester and pentaerythritol ester. Compare with gum rosin, ester of rosin has higher softening point (90-110°C) and acid number between 10-20, so it can has more application. Glycerol ester of rosin and pentaerythritol ester of rosin can be applied to coating and ink, but pentaerythritol has better fast-dry, hardness & glossiness, not only that, it has better water-resistance, alkali-resistance and faster solvent release. If you want to enhance the color stability and other performances of ester of rosin, you can use polymerized rosin or hydrogenated rosin to instead of gum rosin, the softening point of ester of polymerized rosin is higher than ester of rosin, but hydrogenated rosin is lower.
 
In addition to coating and ink, ester of rosin also can be used widely used in hot-melt adhesive, pressure-sensitive adhesive, rubber, tackifier and binder of road marking paint and so on.

What’s Rosin Modified Maleic Resin?

Rosin Modified Maleic Resin also called Maleic Resin, it’s made of Gum Rosin and other chemical materials processed with unique formula and technique, the application of maleic resin is mainly on coatings and inks industries.

There a several types of maleic resins to meet different purposes. For carpentry paint oil varnish nd sealing paint, we can use #422 & #424, for C type gravure ink, we can use the resin with toluene. 103, 105, 107 & 115 are usually applied as adhesive material for ink & paper making industries.
