Application Of Ester Of Rosin In Tackifier For Adhesive

The tackifier resins include hydrocarbon resins, rosin and rosin derivatives, and terpene resins. The choice of tackifier resin depends on its end use, cost and performance. Quality indicators include color and color stability, oxidation stability, odor, softening point, acid value and compatibility in the formulation of adhesives. At present, much ester of rosin produced in the United States are available in 3-4 Gardner colors. In order to improve the stability of the color, hydrogenation is usually used.

The disproportionation method removes the conjugated unsaturated moiety, and the antioxidant can also be used to improve color stability. Some adhesives require components of an odorless ester of rosin as tackifier for adhesive. Usually steam is sprayed under vacuum, and the other is the odor of the masking agent. In a constant tackifier / polymer ratio, increasing the softening point in the tackifier causes the pressure-sensitive adhesive to become more viscous and its cohesive strength to decrease. In contrast, increasing the softening point in the tackifier reduces the tack and increases the cohesive strength. The acid value of the commercial rosin ester tackifier is usually between 5 and 15.
